Music video delivery to VEVO
ANS Music clients can now deliver to VEVO, one of the key DSPs for music videos.
While many users interact with VEVO through its integration with YouTube, VEVO also distributes its catalog to CTV (Connected TV), a linear and video-on-demand TV service on platforms such as Apple TV, Hulu, and Roku, providing further reach for video content.
As part of this feature, you will be able to:
- Deliver music video singles to VEVO CTV
- Specify a VEVO artist channel which makes the video available through VEVO on YouTube
- Include a Description and Keywords for your video.
How do I deliver music videos to VEVO?
VEVO already added to backstage account you can deliver to them like any other DSP.
VEVO only accepts music video singles, so please ensure products delivered to VEVO:
- only contain one music video
- include one thumbnail image.
- adhere to their specifications listed here
How do I choose which VEVO service my video goes to?
All videos delivered to VEVO will be made available on VEVO CTV.
You can also deliver the video to VEVO on YouTube by selecting a VEVO Artist Channel for the video asset. A video sent to VEVO on YouTube can only be sent to one VEVO Artist Channel.
If a video is sent to VEVO CTV only it cannot be made available on VEVO YouTube afterwards unless the video is taken down and then redelivered with the change.
VEVO Artist Channels
How do I create an Artist Channel for VEVO on YouTube?
If your artist channel isn’t there, you need to create an artist channel to a ANS Music Backstage (instructions below).
What are the requirements for requesting a new Artist Channel?
New Artist Channel requests must be approved first by ANS Music and then by VEVO. Please allow around 2 working days for the ANS Music for your request to be approved or denied before it is passed on to the VEVO team, who will process the request in 2 working days.
VEVO will check the submission against the following requirements:
- The channel name must align with the artist or brand name. Slight variations are allowed. For instance, John Mayer can be:
- JohnMayerVEVO
- JohnMayerOfficialVEVO
- JohnMayerMusicVEVO
- Sometimes multiple artists share a name. For artist channels, you cannot share the same artist channel with an artist of the same name.
For instance, if an artist with the same name already has an ArtistVEVO channel, you cannot also use that channel.
In such cases, we suggest appending words like “Official” or “Music” after the artist’s name (but before “VEVO”) to create a unique channel name. -
- JohnMayerOfficialVEVO
- JohnMayerMusicVEVO
- The channel name cannot include any spaces or special characters (alphanumeric only).
- The character limit is 20, including “VEVO”, which must be capitalized.
Can I change the Artist Channel once I’ve delivered a video to VEVO?
Once a video has been delivered, VEVO will not accept further updates to the channel through redeliveries – the delivery will fail to ingest at VEVO. This includes:
- adding a channel when there wasn’t one before, i.e. when it was previously only available on VEVO CTV
- removing a channel
- changing the VEVO channel on a video asset
To action these changes, please take down the video product from VEVO and then redeliver it with the desired change.
